Our day starts at 7.00am with yoga. After a nourishing breakfast (the Ashram food is vegetarian and organic), our participants spend the day moving across a variety of activities and which vary between individual one-on-one counseling and group sessions. A typical day may include acupuncture, EMDR therapy, nutritional class, group discussions (including the creation of post-retreat action plans), relaxation time and kayaking. The day winds down with a bonfire and a coming together of both veterans and staff and where the day’s experiences can be shared. The day is long, intense and exhilarating. The week is carefully designed and with a foundation in research-based structures.
We place a high priority on fostering a sense of community, a feeling of belonging and mutual support: something that is increasingly hard to find in mainstream society.
We do expect all participants to respect a few basic codes of conduct: commitment for the entire week; leave at home any family members, pets, guns, alcohol or illegal substances; confidentiality and mutual respect.
